Treasure Trove of Vintage Glove Uncovered
Posted by Vivian Vassar on 2nd May 2018
What to do with all these Pairs of Vintage Gloves!? As I was going through boxes and boxes of back stock vintage getting ready for this year's Yankee Peddler Day I came across 2 big boxes of vintage gloves that I didn't even know I had. Long, short, orange, purple, blue, white, black, you name it I found it. We've been selling new women's gloves for years but had stopped selling the vintage ones because it was too difficult to list each different pair. (PS I can't wait for the person to invent creating a listing using only your brain power and no typing. That will make my life sooo much easier !)
The answer ? I'll take them to Yankee Peddler Day of course ! That's a crowd that will appreciate the uniqueness of each pair. Some people wear them, some use them in crafts, and some people will want them for resale. I used to make a Christmas Tree out of white gloves each year when I had a store. And I've seen people stuff them and use them to display rings. So, there's lots of possibilities.
Here's the promo picture I made for advertising the gloves are for sale at YPD. Hope you get a kick out of it :)
When a Lady Wears Gloves
"Gloves should be worn on the streets of cities and large town, when going to church, to a luncheon, dinner or reception; a dance, a wedding or an official function. They are also worn to a restaurant and in the theater.
Smart women usually wear gloves while travelling on a train or plane … or in any public conveyance.
On formal occasions, gloves are worn by the guests and by the hostess, while she is receiving."
