Don't Forget About Wrap Skirts

Posted by Vivian Vassar on 2nd Jun 2022

I just found and listed a very cool wrap skirt on Hey Viv Vintage on eBay The skirt is reversible with solid green on one side and yellow daisy print on the other side.  A long tie at the waist can be worn at the front or the back.

I remember wearing wrap skirts growing up.  They are easy to put on, usually light and breezy for summer, and I love that they have adjustable waists.  My favorite wrap skirt was a red and black ethnic print. I wore it with a black leotard - so 70's.  I wish I still had it :)

Wrap skirts and wrap dresses were popular in the 1970s and many people saw them as a symbol of women's fashion liberation since they were looser and were easy to put on and take off.  Diane von Fürstenberg is credited with popularizing the wrap look.  She has stated that her divorce inspired the design, and also suggested it was created in the spirit of enabling women to enjoy sexual freedom.

I'll be looking for more vintage wrap skirts to list so watch Hey Viv ! Vintage on eBay for updates.
