How Do I Decide What Vintage Pins to Buy for Hey Viv?

Recently I went to Baltimore on a buying trip (and to go the American Visionary Art Museum - so cool) I shopped all the vintage shops I could find and lucked into a super trove of vintage pins.  I'm in the process of listing them now.

So, what do I look for when I buy pins?  I have to sell them after all (except for maybe one or two I keep for myself) so here's how I decide what styles will sell. 

I always snap up Classic 50's Circle Pins like the  Heart Shaped Pin in the picture below.   They are popular as a token of love or friendship. And this heart shaped one is a bit unusual with the floating pearl. Circle pins look good on a sweater, blouse, or collar. If you're going to a 50's dance you've got to get pinned!

I can't go wrong with Animal Pins. This Owl Pin will appeal to someone who collects owls or someone who likes figural pins. Or this Basket of Chirping Birds - who can resist a pin with a cute theme, plus it has lots of detail work. These pins appeal to all kinds of animal lovers and collectors. These detailed pins look best worn on a jacket lapel so you can appreciate the whimsey up close.
